I have 2 of their saws with the auto tune on them. Could I please get some opinions on them? Are they safe  because the  way they shut down when running out of fuel, surging?

Surging is a good thing as it's protecting itself from a lean seizure. Also giving you warning while felling a tree before it stops cutting causing a potential hazardous barber chair.

I've owned a new 576 XP Autotune for about three weeks now.
It is an awesome saw.
I have a 390XP that I run all the time.
My main saw was a 575XP that I ran for 9 years before it finally died.
I bought the 390 to replace the 575.
After talking to a friend of mine about buying a second saw.He told me bought a 576 AT and raved about it.
So.     I bought one.
I use it all the time now.
It's super fast and cuts awesome.
I don't use the 390 now unless I get into the big trees.
I would recommend the new 576 AT saws to anyone.

I have heard exactly what you just posted over and over around these parts...

Also interestingly teething issues with 562's and XT's pushed folks to the dark side around here, and now teething issues with their (other brands) new releases along with a more "Husqvarna" feel to some of the "big pro saw" offerings and dealer politics is moving folks back. Those 576's with a better start up in their early years is where many have happily landed...a local thing I'm sure.

When I tried to get a replacement for my 575 after it died.
None of the dealers around me would talk to me about a 576.
They said they wouldn't sell one to me.
This was 3 or 4 different dealers.
I had already had a 288 before my 575.
So my inventory of bars and chains to fit the bigger husky saws was pretty good.
Because I had so many husky bars and chains already I chose to stick with that brand.
A few of my friends are die hard Stihl guys.
They almost had me convinced to buy a 461.
When I was at my local dealer to purchase the 461 I saw they had a 390
I decided to buy that instead.
I ran it for a year and a half or so and liked it a lot.
When the bug hit for a new saw I thought about getting a 562.
After talking to a few people.
One of them told me they had 3 different 562's and returned them all.
They tried a 576 AT and loved them.
I told my local guy that I wanted him to order me one.
When the new saw came in I started running it right away.
It is awesome.
Fast rpm's and lots of power.
My new favorite saw.

I liked the 576XP AT alot too. All the power I needed and velvet smooth in the wood.

Holmes my sentimates as well.
I've got a 20" bar on the 576 and a 28" on the 390.
Ran both of them today.
Did a lot of limbing and cutting with the 576 and cutting and bucking with the 390.
It's  a good balance with the 2 saws for me.  8)

My 576 XP-AT doesn't miss a beat milling NE hardwoods with a 32" bar, either. The vibes are most all from the chain/wood, not the silky-smooth power-head. My heavy artillery.
