I bought a big used saw 28 years ago when I built my house.   Used it hard for about 3 weeks, dumped the gas, put it on a shelf, and it has not moved since then.    I was told it was a Sachs-Dolmar, but the tag on the outer cowl had been worn to much to read it.  The saw was an absolute beast but the thumb oiler did not work so I frequently stopped and poured oil on the chain. I WOULD LIKE TO BUY OR MODIFY A CHAIN OILER THAT WILL FIT.    Pulled it off the shelf yesterday and started it up.   Did not take much to get it running.  Got help from Jeff Brokoff getting registered into Forestry Forum to find someone who knows about this saw.
The saw is light green in color.
It weights 31 lbs with the fuel and oil tanks empty
The bar length is 38 1/2 inches and the total length is 56 inches
The power head is 17" in length, 9 " in width, and 10 1/4" in height
One of the magnesium castings read "MADE IN WEST GERMANY"
Stamped onto the carburetor reads "MARVEL SCHEBLER RLLOISON"
Molded into the plastic hood on the bottom side reads "R144118130"
I would like to figure out what saw it is, MAKE AND MODLE
I would like to get the oiling system working to design intent or better if there is a kit that will adapt.
This is my first day on Forestry Forum,  I would appreciate any help.
Thank You

(I do have a bunch of pictures of it, but I am not very good at transferring and attaching)

The age and weight make it likely to be a CP model.  Dolmar is owned by Makita.  There are some websites and YouTube videos featuring Domar saws; your best bet is to find a collector.

Welcome aboard! Go to the bottom of the home page, there is a good tutorial on posting pictures. I would like to see what you have.

Could it be something like this, a Dolmar 166?

Being green got me to thinking it was probably made for some other brand by Dolmar so I searched "green sachs dolmar" and came up with a Poulan s6000.

You could very well be right!

A shop I worked for tried selling those to the guys cutting big cedar. It didn't fly, they were hardcore Stihl or Husky and weren't going to change.

Thank you Hilltop and Sablanic.   That's what it is.    Poulan s6000/Dolmar 153.    100cc 31lb saw    Made in the late 70's

I logged one summer with a guy in 1986 or 1987, I would have been 18 or 19 at the time, and I had a pretty new 064 stihl that I cut with, really thought I was a big time logger. One Monday morning I showed up for work, he was sitting on his pickup tailgate putting the bar and chain on a big poulan that came in a huge box, he had bought it new over the weekend. I thought to myself why would he buy a poulan, everybody was running stihl or husqvarna around here. He got it put together and fired it up, smoke smoke smoke, bellow and smoke, no telling how rich he had mixed the fuel to run in it for the break in period. The next Monday he had new fuel mixed for it and tuned the carburetor. He was in his late 40s and strong as a bull, he could lay the timber down with that big poulan !!!!!!!  It would out cut my 064 stihl badly, and that 064 cut really good. I have no idea what model number that poulan was, but it would cut !!!!!!

No shortage of power but we ran into a problem. The throttle shaft and link were exposed to unfiltered incoming air, shavings would pack up under the lever and not allow the engine to return to idle. A small piece of foam stuffed in the opening was a field fix but didn't really solve the problem. Other than that they ran well but the loggers would not accept them, go Stihl or go home.

Probably a good saw for chainsaw milling?  The lack of chain brake and it's weight don't matter so much then, and 100 old school ccs should be just the ticket for milling.

If your friend bought that big Poulan new in 1987 it was more then likely a 8500, the last of the all American made pro saws.
It was introduced in 1985 as an upgraded 5200/5400 which was introduced in 1975.
Excellent performing 85cc saw with a reed valve engine design but outdated with very little changes  since 1975.
The 064 also at 85cc was a new generation design introduced in 1986 and about 2 lbs lighter then the 8500.

Holmen tree the best I can remember it was boxier looking, more square than the one in the picture. It was heavy, he ran a 24" bar on it. I wasn't man enough then to carry it, now or anytime, he was very much a man and about half crazy to boot. The patch of logs we cut that summer had some big red and white oaks , and he would flat lay them down.

I want to thank everyone for the help identifying the s6000 Poulan made by Dolmar, a 153 with a light green hood.   Was able to find detailed prints and part number on both saws.  I have not tried buying parts for it yet.   Happy to learn that the 153 had a brake.   Happy to learn that the alignment of the oil hole in the saw often did not line up with the oil hole in the bar and could be drilled. Happy to learn that turning the auto Oiler screw counter clockwise could potentially solve the oiling problem along with drilling the bar to line up the holes.  Thanks again to everyone.
