California Poppies (Eschscholzia californica) opening to the morning sun, 10 months following the Cronan Fire (June 9, 2020 - 29 acres

The Cronan Fire was a wildland fire on BLM recreation focused ground. Official Cause is still "Under Investigation" but likely a crew mowing on a 14% relative humidity day. Quickly controlled, largely due to excellent access and nearby water - South Fork of the American River.

These poppies are spectacular right now. Other areas have fantastic displays of poppies and other wildflowers. The fire cleared competing vegetation and this display is the best that I have ever seen.

Carbon sequestered upon request.

The resiliency of nature is really quite amazing, it doesn't take long for new growth to appear after a fire.
old age and treachery will always overcome youth and enthusiasm
