I have just started buying logs for a log home company I aquired. We generally buy Engleman Spruce, Lodgepole Pine, or Larch.  I have the option of paying either $265/ton (dry),$130/ton (green), or buy using a "Spencer Scale Tape" ,I can get any for $1200 MBF. What would you do and why?

I'd buy green.
If it were white pine that would average out to about $280mbf.
I used a 24" diameter 24 foot length to extract a price of $280 mbf not including delivery.

For myself --primary interest timber frames and wooden boats.I'd prefer to work the wood green -- plus I don't think I could get it dry if I wanted it short of recycling a frame slated for demolition.
Lot of stuff..
