Old Marine friend of mine brought me what he called a helmsman hatch cover to make into a table, hardest DanG oak I ever worked with.

That's a really nice piece.  I bet it's live oak.

Texas Ranger

I believe live oak as well, and some craftsman working.  The screws are all brass, and the slots line up in a straight line.  I have no idea where are when it came from, but don't see anything like it around here.
