I am looking for some input on the best way to process this large sugar maple burl. It is 12 feet in circumference. I have access to a wood mizer.

Is it destined to be used by you, or offered for sale?   If for you, what would you do with it?

I am open to many suggestions. I will probably use some, sell some, and gift some. Will a thick slab twist to much to make a table top ? Are cubes best ? If so, what size ? Should I just sell it the way it is ?

traditionally, I think burls were always cut into veneers because they are so unstable.  turners like blocks though, coat it with anchorseal after you cut it.

there was another post a few weeks ago about a guy that slabbed up one, you may want to check up with him to see if he has run into any problems.

but I have no real experience so take my advise for the time you took to read it, and no more!

There's a fine line between turning firewood into beautiful things and beautiful things into firewood.
