Whacked, chunked, or whatever else that you may call it:

You can tell them or even explain it to them but you can not understand it for them.  Thankfully he and not I will have to wade through this mess and sort the stickers out.

Yes common sense and work smarter not harder don't seem to be in peoples minds anymore.

It is still the same, sling them down and then have to drag them out to set them on the UTV for hauling to the stacking shed.  He is getting paid so I reckon that is all that matters, to him anyway.

Of course the "Tailgunner" is throwing them down and the "Pile-it" is having to sort them out.

Stickers! Always a challenge especially on portable jobs when you are making them and the customer  just don't get the "keep it neat idea"
I use skids at the shop  with rollers so we can wheel them around. Cathy has been complaining about all the different length and thickness stickers on the carts for the softwood stickers. I use fluted breeze wood for hardwood anything going in the kiln .
Well today I made steps to save steps.
I had my student build a sticker saw horse,8' long,  so as I bring stickers off the my trimmings I can put them right on the sawhorses and cut them to 40" and 50" lengths, and shorter 16" for kindling wood. Well see how happy she is next week when all the stickers are the same length and thickness.  ffcheesy

I had a customer stack long stickers in a barrel propped on its side on a trailer.

He would use a chainsaw to cut the long stickers a little longer than the barrel.

Cutoffs long enough were stacked in the barrel again to be cut to length.  Shorts went into a kindling bin.

He used half a dozen barrels to hold his stickers.  By putting the barrels close to his stacks, stickers were within reach of the stack.

I learned something worth remembering that day.

To be honest, my initial sticker stack look a lot like that. If I can get a short 1x1 while  opening or edging a log, I throw it in a pile to sort out later. Now if you have good help then they could stack them on a rack, but working solo, it's throw it at a heap and sort it out later.

I use several plastic barrels for my sticker storage as well. If I got a few projects done I would need a few more.  :wink_2:

I take a dozen and wrap that 6 in Saran Wrap around inch end. Easy for me to handle and stack in a corner of the shed. I don't do the volume you folks do but it works well for me.

I save the whole batch in buckets from my single log stack for when the next log the same width comes along.  including the runner on the top and bottom to hold the plastic strapping.
