How difficult is it to transplant a Dogwood Tree (Cornus florida)? I have been told that you have to make sure they are oriented in the exact same way as they grew in the wild and they can be difficult. Reason for asking is this is one of my favorite trees and  i have several growing along or just inside the wood line around my home. If not to difficult i would like to maybe place one or two in the front yard to dress up the land scape. The trees i have available range in size from just a couple feet tall to what i would call full grown. Am i wasting my time? Any tips or advice would be much appreciated.

Wait until winter when the tree is dormant.  The smaller the tree, the easier it is to dig up with the fine root system intact.  That is the key, keeping the root system intact.
