Here's that Mahogany (?) Log we TRIED to saw on Wednesday. It was LOADED with Beachsand and shells.
The holes must be from Teredo (Ship) worms, from a very warm ocean. They are big enough to stick yer pointin finger into. After the wood is opened up to the air, it turns the dark brown color you see in the pics.
We used re-sharpened Munks Blades, and got 1 cut per blade. 3 cuts used 3 blades.
The log is Oval shaped and is about 34" X 29" round.
NO WAY could the loader pick it up. ::) ::)

Sounds like you need to get that swing blade mill ready to saw. ;D Thats pretty cool tho, wish I was there to see it open up.

I've sawed pilings etc with ship worms in them. They are a mess. Sand will be in the log throughout. It would be a chore regardless of type of mill you use. The holes are lined with hardened excretions from the worms too. It's like cuttin snail shells. I got the job of cutting some one time because the circle mills wouldn't touch them. Now I don't either unless the money is right.
From now on, the money WON'T be right ::) ;D ;D
