Title: ? about older small skid steers
Post by: whitepine on December 17, 2005, 10:30:18 PM
Hi I have heard that the first bobcats that came out did not use hydraulic drives  and wheel motors but some kind of belt system does anyone know anything about them. I am refering to the small ones that used  like 16 hp gas engines. Did it work? Are the first 450 bobcats I think had 16 hp gas engines did they have hydraulic drives like modern ones? Is there a site where one could look this up? Thanks Tom

My '78-79-80 ish 610 Bobcat has a 24 hp Wisconsin with belt drive to a cross shaft to both sides of the machine, and the clutch packs on each side drive a #60 roller chain looped to both front and rear tires on each side. Hope this helps
