Spalted maple cookie coffee table

Last year I slabbed out a spalted maple stump I had found locally in a burn pile.  I cut them into 3 inch thick cookies and stack/stickered them.  I have been chomping at the bit to pull one and see how it would finish out into a coffee table.  Last week I pulled one and finished it off and added brushed stainless steel legs.  Good news is I have 4 more cookies from the same stump to use in the future.  

 

 

I used west epoxy to stabilize the cracks and left the thru holes open for some added character.  I also used an application of wood hardener to the entire surface prior to finishing with satin poly.

I love the simplicity not drawing away from the wood itself. 

As a side note, I'm not sure our house floor is that clean, and I still can't see my shop floor because of all the sawdust :D :
