Only 150,000. That must be truck only - no loader.

What are you looking at? New star? The company I work for just got 2 Western Star gliders they turned out pretty good. Saved big bucks I guess.

That's what I was thinking.

Woodhauler, take a look at the Western Star Gliders. You don't save a lot of money but you will have a brand new truck with a Cat or Detroit motor with no urea, dpf or emissions. My Western Star will be at Maine Freightliner in Bangor for the next few days if you want to look at one.

Friend of mine just bought a new Michigan logging truck. I made a comment about a nice 150k rig... he laughed and said that 150k didn't even buy the truck let alone the log body, lift axles, loader, and pup trailer... I about had a stroke.

I think a new mich truck fully setup is right around 300k

I added up, my repairs for 2012 on my westernstar, 22500.00$$$  thats a truck payment!

What do the dealer say about the tier 4 motors?I still can't get used to the 08 emisions yet, when the ford 550 burns off it smell's awful, and the last 2 times it put out smoke enough to smog a city  :o .

He finally fessed up and told me he spent like 325k on it. Its got everything a guy could want in a log truck though.

My last tri axle was an 07 western star had every option I could think of serco 8500 new bunks 237k going down the road also got the 625 HP cat best truck I ever owned. I thought in  07 that was a lot of money but 325 is crazy.

Woodhauler

The pete i'm looking at has the 550 cummins. If i had a new loader and body it would be 210,000 or so. I spent around 1800 a month on nit pick repairs on my western star last year. Motor has 250,000 miles on it,truck has 500,000 on it now plus loading time. Runs like a clock! But all clocks break after awhile! Trans and rears have never been touched. Also have no tax right offs anymore.

325k is an 11 axle Michigan truck not a tri-axle truck though.

Norm

Sounds like you're making a good decision. The tax write off alone is worth quite a bit and since you've now jinxed yourself by saying the transmission and rear end have never been touched you know they're next!  :D

I hope we get to see a picture of Pete.  ;D
