Seals are shot on my dozer track adjuster. Anyone changed them on this model before? Sure could use some pointers here.

Figured out you have to split the track to have enough room to remove the yoke.

I have had to do both sides on my 941B Cat track loader and had to split the track to get enough room to remove the yoke and get the piston out to remove the seals. My old Cat isn't too bad to spit the track as it has aftermarket rails and they bolt together.

I'm hoping that this one has a master link also. I don't want to have to beat a pin out.

Don't you have a mud hole you can just drive into and turn sharp? Guarantee that the track will remove itself that way.

The rest is up to you to figure out.  :D

If your track has worn enough, you might be able to remove it without breaking it by collapsing the idler as far as it can go. I was able to remove my Cat excavator tracks that way when I replaced my final drives.

Now I can't get it to start.  >:(
I know how you feel those old Cat's can be a pain some days. But there are so many things my old track loader will do that my 100 HP skid load will look at and cry. I would be lost with out my old track loader out hear on the farm.

Kept acting like it was out of fuel but there was fuel in the tank. It was out of fuel though. Couldn't get past the hole in the fuel line. Once I finally figured that out, got the line fixed, and primed the engine it grudgingly decided to fire up. Was too late to start busting the track by that time. Will try to get it done tomorrow before it starts raining. Lindy wants me to pay somebody to do it but I want to save that $300.

May not be applicable but: I had a cat d7e. Removed tensioner attachment bolts.  Chained up front idler and pulled forward with tractor. Had just enough room to get ram out. Helps to have a few strong helpers.

Hi I'm a cat tech in Ontario Canada
Unfortunatly you'll need to split the track on the bright side you can clean up the wear plates and replace if needed
Not sure what service techs are like in your area
Up here when I use to run a service truck would help out small guys bill you an hour or some times half hour pending time and stop in split track and reconnect at later date
Depends on your time line
Again that was me not sure there but never hurts to call if you need to press it out

LeeB

Thanks Fred. This track has a master link. Luckily, no pin to press out as long as the bolts will break and not snap off.

Lee if they break do not heat you'll never get them out
Drill them if they break
Give the heads of the bolts some real good smacks with a sledge to jar them before trying to loosen

LeeB

They broke with no problem. Seals are changed and the track is back together. Now that the seals hold the grease zirk decided to give up. Will need to change it and back out a few of the bolts for the guard that broke off. All in all, I feel pretty good about having tackled this and coming out on top.

Got the fuel hose changed out again for the proper one and installed the grease valve for the track adjuster. Started on changing out the shoe pads. Going to need this thing working to fix my drive after 6" of rain yesterday.

And now the right side angle cylinder blew it's seals. Old iron is so much fun.
