Charlie came down from Minni-haha a couple of days ago to spend the week working on our mother's estate papers and pictures and "things".  We ate at a Bar-b-Cue restaurant last night (on Charles).  Charlie invited my oldest son, his wife and daughter........and me ;D,  to go to the local "Sonny's" for All you can eat Bar-b-Cue.   He and I had ribs and more ribs and more ribs again.  When we got home, we were so stuffed that we couldn't even watch television.  I went to bed early and couldn't sleep because my back was even sticking out.  Charlie didn't stay up much longer than me and slept in this morning some.   We didn't eat all day........ so..........  we decided that supper should be a healthy one to keep us from wasting away.

I got me some coffee and Charlie some Jack
and took some small steaks to the back yard
where we built a fire.

"Do you reckon it's ready for the meat Charlie"?

"Yeah, let's do it."

Tom! They're a little rare yet.

Looks good boys!

Me, Mary and son Chris was invited up to my folk's house for dinner today.  Dad went to town and got some BBQ ribs from the grocery store.  Mom fixed way more stuff to go with it than we could possibly eat.

I little cafe has re-opened next to the gas station on the highway.  It's called Mama's Place and is run by a black family.  They've got everything you'd want on the menu - BBQ'd ribs, pork steak, brisket plus pork tenderloin, catfish, hand pressed hamburgers, and about anything you can think of to go with it.  Mama's cornbread eats like cake!  I think me and Mary have gained 10 lbs since we found out about the place.

And yes,  they have grits. ;D

Tom didn't have any big steaks left so we had to make do with some small ones. Good thing I was still full from the BBQ ribs we swallered last night.  Tom's drinking coffee but I'm on my second glass of Jack. It's hard to cook a good steak without some Jack and fresh branch water. ;D

I never heard of barbequing a roast - that's a good idea. 8)

We went to Famous Dave's for barbeque last night. They even have catfish, but no grits. Guess I'm going to have to go south if I ever want to try grits.
