Start networking with the U.S. Forest Service. They hire many females and many have high level management positions. The current Chief of the USFS is a female who came up through the ranks from fire fighting into high level management.

Hi Sarah

I work for a lumber kiln company.

Since the population isn't stagnant, there will be growth in the lumber industry. Being that people want green products these days and wood is very sustainable, I think it can only gain in popularity.

As far as women in the industry goes, it doesn't matter. The only restriction is being a strong person inside, if you aren't sure of yourself nobody else can be sure of you. This doesn't mean being one of the boys but being confident as you. One of the things I like best about this industry is that the people are friendly and honest, more than any other industry I have worked in, but they don't have much patience for fools or lazy people.
