This calculator is for a uniformly loaded beam across two posts, overhanging one post.
https://forestryforum.com/members/donp/oerhangbm.htm

For an example I entered 350 lbs per foot load
120" span
48" overhang
4 wide
8" deep
Fb=1000 psi
E=1
Fv=135 psi

The shear at the overhung post is the total shear V2+V3.

Play with the overhang and loads and watch the moments and deflections, kinda neat. The overhang cuts the deflection when proportioned well. The reaction, moment and shear over the overhung post get large pretty fast.

I'm double checking here and I want to be sure I'm getting right. Is the entry for beam span the total length of the beam, (in inches,) or the span between the two posts?

Look at the top beam diagram
Where the calc is asking for load per foot of beam, that is the little w in the diagram.
Span is l, the span between supports.
Overhang length is a.

This is one of the least used calcs, holler if you hit anything odd.

Thanks for your time. And the toolbox. It is as I had figured,  but always good to ask somebody if you're in unfamiliar territory.
