I might have a chance to buy a woodmizer lt40 with about 340 hrs on it the guy told me it was about 3 years old it has lubemizer an debarker on it. What would be a fair price

See if you can get the serial / model number from him, then contact WM to see what they have on record (if anything) on maintenance schedule that might have been done, replacement parts, etc.  and they would be able to give you a number to what the machine is worth on the resale side of it.  As all prices are subject to multiple things, such as how well it was taken care of, regular scheduled maintenance items preformed, and of course the region for where the unit and you are located will dictate its value.  Good luck, and keep us posted as you progress, be  careful though, making sawdust is an addiction that's hard to get back out of your system once set in.

What engine?
Accuset II?
Walk with, front remote, or wireless?
Super or not?
Trailer pkg?

Like MikeW asked, serial number and call Woodmizer will get you full description, history and a value estimate.

Sounds like it may have a few options on it, may be worth a decent chunk of change.

I'm sure it's the standard motor because he never said nothing about the motor it is a walk with it ain't a super an it does have a trailer pkg.. I was wanting a ballpark figure so I would not be caught off guard when he tells me a price

Spec one out new on the WM site, then expect 85% of that if everything is good would be my guess, but WM will give you an "Orange Book" value if you call them with the serial #.

From the website, new LT40 with 26HP std gas engine, debarker, lubemizer, $29500. This includes a current sale.   Add $1300 for 38HP gas and $2600 for Accuset II.

If 85% of 29500 like SSL says above, then $25075. IMO this would be the high end of a possible range.  There might be blades, spare tire, covers, other spare parts who knows which are worth knowing about.  And its all about condition, whether in like new shape or are there things wrong with it?

I'd get him to give you a price,  serial # , permission to check into it with WM, and time to think about it. Then call WM and get their valuation.

The year model would make a difference too, Is it an 88 model that has been sitting in a field rusting, or a 2018 that has been under cover? Hard to just give a ballpark figure at all with the info you have posted.

I assume it is a late model, but you know what they say about assumptions.

I didnt give a year model but did say it was 3yrs old so I reckon it would be a 2016 at the oldest a 2015

Rolo,

As mentioned, I think your best bet is to get the serial number from the seller and contact a WM rep., they should be able to get you the skinny on the unit, at least from a stand point of scheduled maintenance if any and what the unit's bells and whistles were sold with that particular unit, then its just going to look it over real good and hopefully see it in action making sawdust.  As SouthSide says, WM will be able to give you the "orange er Salmon book" rate for that unit to start the negotiations with.  Best of luck to you, keep us posted on progress....
