I have mentioned this before and I now will do it again, If you have the "send me email notification of personal messages" enabled on the forum you receive a Notice that you got a message that contains that message. Right at the top of email messages it says

"You have just been sent a personal message by XXXXXXX on The Forestry Forum.

If you disregard this and reply to that email, your answer is sent back to the forum administration, NOT to the intended recipient.
