I have a old homemade tractor that the wife named it after the builder. Had a old ford cabover semi years ago that was named old rust. We have several farms that are named after the old owners that are long gone.
That is an old and very respectful tradition.

We use to own the Gordon Place,Yeaton Place and Clark Place.  People would move off from the farms into town. They would ask my Grandparents to buy their land. He had a job and could buy it. I can still hear my Father say he saw one family haul everything they owned away in a hay wagon.

Many of our loggers have named their woodhauler's and have the name painted on their rigs. Many names have been posted through out the "Timber Harvesting Methods & Equipment" thread.

I had a 1964 D6 named Bullwinkle. When I bought my wife a Polaris 4 wheeler it became "Rocky". We had a 67 Ford Galaxy 500 named Yellow Bird. It was very yellow.
