Jonesred cs2255

Just bought a jonesred cs2255 today was wandering what you all thing about this saw I got it mostly to top and limb with

wondering the same thing / stopped in at the local shop to pick up a new chain and seen they have a cs2255/18 for $409.00 out the door. trade off from the 2159 that's wearing down an out. seems to be the better of two saws 2253 with a few less cc,s. probably be my next pick of the litter!

I got this one from tractor supply for $350 it came with a 20 inch bar I'm gonna put it to work tomorrow and see how it dose this is my first jonesred I run Stihls I figured for a price like that I'm not out much if it peters out

That is a "homeowner" class saw (same as the Husky 455), that is quite heavy for its power and performance, and far from what I would call a limbing/topping saw.

People are different though, as are cutting conditions....... ;)

I will let you know how it dose tomorrow I have a stihl ms 290 that I use to top and limb with I will see how it compares

that's barely above my cost.its below my cost if I had to ship it in.

The 2255/455 is a nicer saw than the MS290 (AV, air filtration and handling), but they basically are in the same class. The 290 has more power "on paper" though....

Does Jonsered have an equivalent of the Husky 555 or 560?

Great idea to support local dealers. I was in TSC the other day getting chicken supplies, and looked at the J-reds as they are right by the exit. 2245 had the chain on backwards :D

" 2245 had the chain on backwards" :D ! that's jonsered's new model for cutting all that upside down wood! hard to cut with a regular cutting chain as well as a forward rolling saw!! lol

Jonsered has the 2258 and the 2260. You won't find these models at TSC.

Ran the saw today runs great well worth the money so far it will out cut my ms290 it is a torquey little saw we will see how it holds up

Just a update on the 2255 it's still running good I cut and topped with it one day last week one of my timber cutters had to take a day off I cut some 30 plus inch white oaks and chestnut oaks it dose pretty good felling with if it has a real sharp chain but a little slow for me but all in all for what size it is its a good little saw

a change of mind! after looking the 2255 over a bit closer decided to go to a 455 rancher instead! the one and only bar nut turned my mind faster then the chain can travel.... not sure if the one bar nut will hold up to keep the b/c tight?? accidents happen! going with the 455 r auto tune will be a new experience for me, not sure of the dependability of the auto adjustment or lack of? any one know how they hold up? to busy at the local "ace is the place" today to have them set it up, so Monday will be the pickup date.

In response to the Auto Tune, I have it on my 545 and it works great. It tunes as you make the first few cuts and is continually adjusting. Don't be surprised if it stalls right after the first start. Generally over the first two to three minutes the adjustments are made and then it runs perfectly. I'm not as keen to adjusting the carb settings like others on this site, so the auto tune works well for me.

Those little saw respond real well to a muff mod. They also are prone to coming out of the box set a little lean on both the lo and hi sides, but yours sounds like it's hooked up pretty good. These saws are underrated and looked down upon by the snobbery that exists on enthusiast sites like this. They are very reliable once properly tuned.

There may only be a single bar nut, but there are in fact 3 bar studs. One with the nut, and one support stud on either side of it. The 455 rancher II AT now has this set up, as will the 460 and 465 when they arrive next year.

I guess I'm behind the times. I didn't realize that auto-tune had made it to the 455 yet.

!! man did I ever trip over my own tongue!! been looking at so many different saws that im seeing one saw and thinking of another. didn't want the single nut jonsered 2255 and instead bought the husky 455 r auto tune only to find the same thing? mindless !! is all I have to blame it on im guessing! :D ;D so its the single nut for this "NUT OPERATOR" ... don't expect to much when looking for a better built power tool from a "one eyed old fat man that cant see past his nose"... better luck to me next time ? maybe lol=lol=lol=at myself!lol
