Been getting a lot of first lately. It really is amazing how much stress trees store. So far we've cut some southern yellow pine and red oak and they have been somewhat predictable. I cut my first pecan today and ate a little humble pie.  Man that stuff fought me every way it could.  I did end up getting some decent 1x5 boards but had way too much waste.  So far, every day at the mill is a learning experience and I don't think I'll ever get tired of that.  I appreciate all the free info here on the Forestry Forum.

Pecan is beautiful wood but unfortunately it probably is not through eating your lunch yet.  It should finish as it dries.  :-X

Yup - then just for something to do, it will kick your butt when you decide to plane it.
