I talked with a machinery manufacturer yesterday.  Their biggest issue is demand. They are running fully staffed 55 hours a week and continue to deliver machines.  Their problem is demand.  If I place an order today, there are 30 machines of that model on their production schedule ahead of me. There’s an 8 month lead time.

The second issue they are experiencing is sufficient numbers of CDL drivers to get machines delivered.

Maybe they’re figuring if they create a “shortage” then they can demand more for the products and in turn using up less resources to manufacture things resulting in more profit because they are selling less and less for more and more

The Chinese used to get ridiculously cheap International postage rates because they were considered a poor developing country.  That got renegotiated by the International Mail union and postage out of China went up to a more realistic cost. I've noticed the change in the computer parts I order, and that would be one reason for them consolidating orders and dispatching stock from local warehouses.  That's probably just another factor in the general disruption.

Any time there is widespread change in a complex system, it seldom goes smoothly.
