these are from one of my connections.they will be used with the big ugly but order.

that's a 10 foot trailer,the big one is 24" on the big end.theres 3 more 8'ers by 16" not pictured.

Tree services are one of the best sources for mill logs except for occasional hardware. The tree guys chip the smaller stuff, but the large softwoods are a problem big mills don't want yard trees and they end up paying to dump them. I cut for a couple of tree guys, they drop off the logs and I cut for both of us no one really keeps score. Frank C.

we've got one here too, brings in a little work from time to time, much like bandmiller2, there's always some trading around, and am wondering what is slash pine?

I know it's not common to the area, but the bark looks a lot like Ponderosa Pine!

Slash Pine is one of the SYP's. To me, kinda between Loblolly and Longleaf.

Longleaf pine forest, one of the varieties of Southern yellow pine
Southern yellow pine (often abbreviated SYP) doesn't refer to any one species of tree, but rather a group of three-needle pine species which are classified as yellow pine (as opposed to white pine), and are native to the Southern United States. They grow very well in the acidic red clay soil found in most of the region. The species include Loblolly, longleaf, shortleaf, and slash pines. It typically has a density value between 50–55 lbs/cubic foot when pressure treated.

Slash pine = Pinus elliottii

Slash pine and longleaf pine were the ones that were tapped for turpentine. Slash is native to the Atlantic and Gulf Coast Coastal Plain. Denser than loblolly or shortleaf, but not as dense as longleaf.
