Alright, I figured this group has had similar experiences and some of you have fought through these things before. I had a couple banded a few weeks ago, to be honest it didn't help all that much but the surgeon said mine were "quite large" and may call for a rematch. Advice, anecdotes, herbal remedies...I'm all ears😁

I have had them, it's no laughing matter. I have found Anodan-HC, a lower cost generic Preparation H, effective.

they can also be lanced, (so stabbed instead of just strangled).  We use steroid cream for the outside, and suppositories for the inside ones.  they are basically a varicose vein in your "hiner one niner".  anu-sol and anu-dex (named after anus).  go easy on the heavy lifting where you hold your breath and bear down.  also helps to take a stool softener and drink lots of water.

Thanks Doc. Southside, you're no help at all! Reference Sawguy's remarks please😂😂 I usually keep this struggle to myself, but Doc and others were discussing them on another post so I figured I'd make my own. I'm hoping someone can share an experience of an easy fix, not likely though🤷‍♂️😊 Yeah, I've got the inside ones. The ones on the outside I've experienced also, they hurt worse kind of a constant throbbing pain. These internal ones basically cause problems after I go to the bathroom. I had the banding done about a month ago during a colonoscopy, and will likely give the Dr. the shot at the rematch he mentioned and see if that takes care of them. I hope Drs get paid extra for that work!😂

yes @barbender we get hazard pay.   8).  do not sell @Southside  short, that may be the hidden meaning "behind" his handle.  as a real pain in the rear, he prob. is an expert! :o :o :o :) :) :) :D :D :D.  they will go away if you do nothing, as they will scar down.  if they have a clot in them (thromboses)  they can be opened up.  start the steroid suppositories, stool softener and extra water and if still not better by the time you get an appointment, go for the rematch.  @Magicman please know that has happened!

Doc, that's pretty good! I thought we might just change Southside's handle to Hemorrhoid, being that he is a pain in the...aw nothin'😁 I'm going to modify my diet to get more fiber, I'm thinking a hemorrhoid healthy diet could also be a good weight loss diet so maybe this is the push I needed. I'll look into the suppositories and try to remember which end they go in, and drink lots of water.

You'd think with all of the sawdust I ingest, I'd have enough fiber already😁 Unfortunately we're running out of mills to take wood fiber👎

I once asked the hind end Doc why he got into that line of work.  His reply, "Nobody goes A** first through a windshield at 3:00 o'clock in the morning. I sleep when I want to."  Guess that was a good reason.

He has a good point. My doctor commented as he was putting on the glove "This isn't the highlight of my day either".

But there are two sides to every coin... I had to deal with a scene one time where a gal fell off the back of a motorcycle.  She did pretty well all things considered, rolled head over tea kettle to the side of the road and all was well until the final landing.  Which happened to perfectly coincide with a white pine sapling, which then broke off.....Not sure who I felt worse for, the gal or the doctor, who came up to me and said "I think I am supposed to tell you she has a bullet in her".  That one was not a new injury so I just left it alone, figured she had a bad enough day.  ::)

Yeah my uncle always tell me a story of a local guy who was working on a roof and came down right on a shovel handle😬 It's a believable story until he gets to the part where the EMT's arrive and just pick him up by the handle to put him in the ambulance😂

Bite the bullet and have them removed. Life is to short and there is no other long term fix.

I have found that soaking in a hot/warm tub does wonderful things in terms of getting them to shrink and cease to bother me.  I normally do showers but 3-4 nights soaking for 30 mins or an hour in the tub and they are pretty much gone.

Vick's vapor rub.  Sounds crazy and does not heal them but after the initial shock it provides some relief.  When you feel like you are sitting on a campfire, you will try just about anything.

most stool softeners help, so a hard dry stool does not rip them open (conjured a visual I assume)  not sure about the vics eucalyptus, although it may take your mind off your hemorrhoid as you run around the room screaming!   :o :o :o 8) 8) 8) wait_smiley wait_smiley wait_smiley arg-smiley arg-smiley logrite_cool arg-smiley arg-smiley taz-smiley taz-smiley taz-smiley bon_fire dancing-jack smiley_deadheader_ride_alligat smiley_horserider

Doc, I kinda thought the same thing! I have some jalapeno peppers, maybe I could rub some of that juice around I bet I'd forget about the hemorrhoids!😂

I feel like my situation is not typical- I don't "go" very often, but I'm not constipated, at least not in the sense of things being hard being the issue. I sit in a cab all day and I just don't have to go very often. I know I need to move more (walking etc.) I used Mira-lax for quite a while that my Dr prescribed me, it didn't really change anything. I might go 5-6 days in between bm's and then it's a "big job"😳 But, it is not hard, dry stool I experience. At any rate, I'm going in on Monday for round 2 of banding, hopefully this takes care of it or I will be seeking out a specialist, or just living with it I guess.

there are many definitions of constipation.  you might do better to go more often, but getting there is the question.  you can train your bowels, but overuse of laxatives is not good.  see if you can make it happen every day or so for a while,  increase fiber and water ect.  they are literally a pain in the ash.

Mine were surgically repaired in 1990, age 47. I also got scoped same day for colon AND I watched that on color TV! Preparation H is a joke and waste IMO. Steroids were not much help either for me. My doc told a friend who taught electrical at my tech school he was an [I have typed a profane word that is automatically changed by the forum censored words program I should know better] doctor he guessed-HA! :D
He had a some what medieval device which he tried on me to cauterize mine prior to surgery. A nasty black rod that went "up there", as it were. Yes, I remember him doing it a few times.
He also told me I had the largest butt he'd worked with.
The first bowel movement is a genuine, once in a lifetime experience. My SIL's beautician said it was as bad as childbirth for her. I'll have to defer to her life experiences cause I never "had" a baby-yet... ;D
I'm sure no fanboy of pain pills-I mostly flush em after joint surgeries but honestly speaking- when I ran out of morphine I was wanting some more of those beautiful red pills.
So far, so good and no rectal bleeding since then.

I got the second round of banding, and it was much more painful than the first time around. I think the Doc was much more aggressive this time since I had to come back (I insisted I be put under for the procedure). I was pretty well out of commission for a week, went in and tried to work one day. Not extreme pain, more like extremely uncomfortable. Feeling much better a month or more out, and things are working a lot better. Hopefully it lasts, I'm really thinking I need to get out of that operator's seat though. We'll see.
