Title: nuther Acer Negundo question
Post by: TexasTimbers on August 14, 2008, 03:45:20 PM
Anyone want to hazard a guess on what other species I ought to assign this stuff to? I mean, it is not as if their is a schedule for this stuff. I have lucky so far but I am about to fill the kiln at least half full of very valuable grade stuff. My premium stuff. I want to have a better idea than just flipping the switch this time.

I found a short reference in a USDA Forest Service, Center for Wood Anatomy Research Fact Sheet that said to use the Soft Maple schedule for negundo.

Go figure. Use the Soft Maple drying schedule for a soft Maple.  :-[  :-[  :-[

Another question now. one of my customers is gonna stick his load in a steam kiln. I warned him not to do this because I thik it will wipe out the color. Any opinions on that? I know even less about steam drying. Like . . . nada.
