I'm fortunate to be the dad of four children, three my wife and I have and one my son picked for us.

I hopeful that others will share your pride in your children.

To start, I'll share this about my son and his wife....they are "homeless and unemployed."

Shocked?  Don't be!  They are debt free, have money in the bank and are following their dreams!

They are early thirty-somethings, and have advanced degrees (debt free). He's a civil engineer and she's a high school and college career counselor.

About four years ago they set the goal to through-hike the Appalachian Trail.  While she has had some injuries that have altered their plans, my son is within 160 miles of realizing his goal.  She's running support for this 8 month endeavor!  While she's come off the trail, she did hike between 300 and 400 miles with him.

Grungy?  Of course they are!  But they are highly successful Millennials!  They have focus and work ethic to achieve whatever goals they decide upon!

I've got two other children who I love dearly and am very proud of but I'll share something about them later.

Nice, sounds like they will do well.

My niece and her boyfriend did a long trail in Europe a few years ago, I believe it was a El Camino de Santiago.

Good looking couple. Seems like they have their heads on straight and I know you are justifiably proud of them.

We have a son and a daughter. Son lives 10 miles away and works at a local Federal Prison Camp. (Martha Stewart's vacation homesite). My DIL is a traveling hospice nurse. They have a 15, 13 and 9 y/o daughter. They own their home on about 5+ acres and spend most of their time these days keeping up with a HS, MS and Elementary school student and their school and after school activities.

Our daughter is a child life specialist working at Levine Medical Center in Charlotte NC. She loves kids and works with many under the worst conditions. She volunteers at Camp Care, a special camp for kids with, survivors of and their siblings who have/had cancer. Our SIL is a video editor who works from home editing movies and film slots and does a lot of work with the Inspiration Channel and Billy Graham foundation there in Charlotte. They have a son who will be 5 next month and a curly haired hearththrob of a daughter who will be 3 in February.

They came up this week and left today. We all did an early Thanksgiving dinner yesterday and spent most of the day with the entire family together for the best time I have had since I can remember. I took the little kids on a "hay ride" this morning in my little cart on a bale of hay bouncing behind my ATV and we made great memories.

I can honestly say both my kids are credits to their community and we are immensely proud of both of them and out SIL and DIL and all 5 grandkids,

My comment on what I salvaged of your quote is:
My parents had 6 DIL's that were picked by their 6 sons and one SIL picked by their eldest daughter.

I'm proud of my sons.  They are both very talented and smart.  My oldest is 14 and the youngest is 11.  The 11 year old is very creative and a very good piano player.  It has been difficult getting him piano lessons currently, but we are searching for a new teacher.  He can hear something like the phantom of the opera and then sit down at the piano and figure out how to play it.
The oldest plays trombone, but is not exactly great at it, but he keeps happily taking lessons.  He is a very talented soccer player who just completed his freshman year of soccer and played very well.  He started winter indoor soccer last night and got a few goals.
I'm very much looking forward to what future they build for themselves.  It seems neither has any interest in woodworking or sawmills, lol.  Maybe they will be a scientist and a concert pianist.

My son and daughter both have good jobs. They enjoy what they do and work every day. My daughter and her husband both have jobs that provide them with 12 weeks paid time off because .........

My other two children are women (girls doesn't seem right anymore).

My youngest is a senior manager for two stores that sell high end products geared toward Millennials who have disposable income.  When she isn't at that job she is a custom clothing and home apparel designer.  Some of her custom products are in fine homes in our area.

She was the one I expected to make the move to New York, Atlanta or the West Coast but she lives in her Grandma's house about half a mile from here.

Most of all, I am proud of her servant's heart.  She makes things for the area hospice centers and nursing homes.

It doesn't hurt that she can step into my shop, use any tool and make just about anything I can.

Plus she will fish with me!

Just wanted to share  a picture.
Our son who is working on an aviation science  degree took big sister up for a plane ride the other day.   :)

Nice thread!
I have 3 offspring.
My son just moved to Kelowna to live in the mountains, back crountry ski and hike. He runs his own IT/social media company from home. He likes to tell me ' knowbody really knows what I do'. I reply as long as your not asking for money, I don't need to know.
Next Daughter is a teacher  in Sept Isle Quebec, with 2 of 4 my grandchildren. She went there 10-12 years ago on a teacher shortage, met a good man and has not come home. Except the summers to enjoy the lake, she makes a visit with the grand children.
Next Daughter is a Used Car Salesman. Runs a large Auto Auction just north of Toronto. she has 2 of my 4 grandchilden, one of which was born last week. Kate.

I am not going to brag on my kids, they are doing well, but my granddaughter as a freshman took  6th in the Kansas state cross country meet a while back.  Our school won first in the state.  3A

My oldest.  Not only does she fish with me, she is an accomplished painter and potter.  She has art in numerous homes from Wilmington to Boone.  She is also a certified fire twirler (think flaming baton juggler). She's the one who marches to a different drummer.

She schedules trucking for a refrigerated foods company.

Both my girls make me get out of my comfort zone.  Maggie convinced me to try sushi last Wednesday night. I've had it previously but it's been 25 years.  I did try several varieties and determined I would have teriyaki chicken.  I also tried the warm Saki, I'll stick with bourbon.   :)

I have 7 kids and love them all the same, but some of them are just easier to get along with than the others.... One is just as cantankerous as all get out, another is playing the 'I'm mad, so I'm not talking game'. 3 are millennials. 2 are Gen Z and 2 Gen Alpha. 2 eldest millennials are hard to get along with, the youngest is the nicest, hardworking husband/dad you'd ever wanna meet. The elder 2 do very well financially, just hard to get along with. Go figure

I have 1 Gen Z that is out of school. He accepted Christ at 9. Went to his first state spelling Bee in the 4th grade, same for the Geography bee. Decided to wrestle his senior year. Beat out the senior who was a 3 year starter and was expected to be a state finalist. Walked on at OU. Had a full ride scholarship by the end of his freshman year

Got married after his freshman year to a very nice Christian girl that summer. They figured out it was going to be very hard to wait, so they got married after a very short courtship. Then of course she got pregnant in the fall. Opps. They had a very lovely little girl this spring. She spends a few days a week with us, so that's nice

He had been trading foreign currency on the side for some time and then he decided to start a crypto currency trading platform. He went public with it this past summer. He has people from all over the world working for him. It's kind of funny to hear him on the phone and hear the accents of the different people speaking english from the different country's

1 other Gen Z does well in school, just got her first job. Not sure what she wants to do yet. Maybe the medical field she thinks

The 2 Gen Alpha's. The youngest one has eclipsed the older one. They tested him and he is in the 99 percentile for math for kids in the 4th grade, but he actually is only in 3rd grade age wise. He tested out of 4th grade for math, but missed the language arts by 3% points, so he couldn't skip 4th. He's doing exponents and related. Algebra next. The girl excels in reading. I think she is 8th grade level, but 4th grade actual. Really artsy/crafts talented

Yesterday my Nephew got married, and it was best chance to get us all together. My older boys live 4 hours away, so we don't get to see them that much.  But they made the effort to come up for their cousin's wedding. They had to head home today for work in Monday

So this is my clan
Ryan has shed his dreadlocks, but not the piercings / tatts, but he works as a barista / front of house, and fits into Wellington culture just fine.  $10 at the Goodwill shop and he had an outfit suitable for a wedding. :D

Taylor and Lara are my daughters with Lil.

Chris is my older son, and Ashley is my Grandson.  Chris works in the Appeals Court in Wellington. That's the other 1/2 of Wellington.

I'm the scruffy grey one, and Lil.  :)

Not a Child but a Grandson.  We have had a Grandson in the "oil patch" for several years.  It was on again-off again, in the Gulf, and on land a couple of times but he has been in West Texas now for several years.  Two weeks on and two weeks off.

He just made Driller on his rig so he is super pumped up and we are very excited for him, his family, and his future.

MM you have all the reason in the world to be a proud Granddad!  There's plenty of room to share!   Seeing our children and grand children achieve their goals is an awesome feeling and seeing them excited about it is very satisfying.  Knowing the future is what they make of it then seeing them make good decisions is relieving.

My 16 yo daughter started her first "real" job at a clothing store after school and weekends, she seems to be enjoying it and is looking forward to her first pay check.

I can't wait to see the look of disappointment when she sees the amount of incoming tax deducted ;D, ok not really.

My pride and joy.Grandson came 3 months early at only 1&1/2 pounds right in the middle of COVID-19.He was in icu for 3 months and I couldn't get in the hospital to see him. He's doing good now.I can't believe being a grandpa could be so much fun.
