Does anyone know how many horsepower a Sachs Dolmar 166 has?
We recently fit a bar for a customer that brought in a used one, he claims it has 12hp, is this true? And how good a saw was this?

According to AcresInternet chainsaw site that saw is 5.9 kw or 12 hp (SAE)  :o

However the maths doesn't quite seem right there, my maths makes 5.9kw = about 8 hp.  ???

By contrast a Stihl MS880 is claiming 6.4 kw, so thats the right sort of numbers.

I see it's 112 cc, so it's a big saw in anyones book.

Never seen one, so I dont know anything about that model, but I'd think it's a pretty good saw, but not one I'd want to carry around all day   :D
A good milling or big log saw.

Cheers

I have one with a 54 inch bar and I think it has a longer stroke than standard saws.  It is really a beast  to start (high compression.)  Seems to have a lot of power  and with full skip chisel tooth chain it leaves  a lot of chips in a hurry.  This is a really heavy saw but good for cutting large stuff in one pass.  Just had a big storm blow through michigan city, indiana.  May be firing it up after a long hibernation.
