Today we ordered the pig and the port-a-potty so that means it is time to start getting a count for the pigroast. :)
You are not required to rsvp to attend, but we sure would appreciate it if you think there is a good chance you are coming to add your number of attendees to our count. This gives us a good idea on what to expect and also gives incentive to others to come. You can always retract if you need to, but you won't ;) :).
The date for the Pigroast this year is August 1st 2015 That day also happens to be Tammy and I's 35th wedding anniversary.

We were planning on going, but now Sheila has to have total knee replacement on the left!
Maybe next year!
Y'all have fun, and do a lot of visiting.
Well, if the Goat ain't coming, neither am I! Actually, a years worth of worry and stress will come to an end some time this summer, no plans till we put this one behind us.
Much as I have been working my plans and hopes of attending this year, it can't happen. Famuily reunion is scheduled that weekend. I have been "volenteered" to host, as my brother is post-operative. Sorry to all, especially myself. >:( :(
:(
Due to an unforeseen circumstance Linnea and I will not be joining the fun this year.
The count drops back to 32. :(
Sorry we're going to miss you two, Robert.
Vicki and I will push it back to 34.
Sorry to hear you will not be there Robert.
Come on Dan!
Jon, my buddy Gerald, my brother Chris and associated biker chicks plan to attend. That's 3 bikes and 5 people.
39
Unfortunately Diane says she cannot make it. I'm applying some serious arm twisting.
Not sure where the count is but I think I make it 40.
Keri and I will be there. Really looking forward to going as this past year has been anudder tough one.
42
Oh Wow my Friend. Pat and I are looking forward to seeing you and meeting Keri. smiley_thumbsup smiley_thumbsup

Seeing that there is a need for a few more northerners, I plan on coming.
Ian, Claire, and young Brantley are also coming as of now.

You are worth at least two Northerners :D.

Cedarman,
Not in size, but in impact :D.
I talked with Dave, and we have our camping reservations at Hidden Hill Family Campground again this year. :)
Room is confirmed at the Lakeside. Decided not to drag the camper up this year. Arriving late Thursday night. Will be over to help get things ready Friday.
I will be there.
52
I just called and made reservations at Hidden Hill campground. One of my neighbors said "all the way to Michigan for a pig roast, we have pig roasts in PA" to which I replied "but we don't have blueberry waffle cone ice cream" that's worth the drive. I really hope we have the ice cream. 8)
I am 98 percent sure so count me in.
I cant speak for she who must be obeyed, but by golly want to meet a bunch of you folks.
I think i saw something about motels in the area so will make res.

Looking forward to my first FF pigroast.
So, lets see, Sparks has the count with him at 52, gspren and Petefrom bearswamp have put up their hands, so that makes it 54, and so Teea and I bring the count up to 56.
Got our stay at the Lakeview confirmed, road trip !!
Our first too.
Couple of questions for Jeff
Are adult beverages allowed if consumed in moderation?
Do you need help setting up as I am retarded er retired and can get there a day early.
Can we bring anything in the food or supplies category?
Pete
Another question for Jeff, can you recommend a doggy daycare in the area? The last times we came to the PR Ginger did fine in the RV all day long but this year she will be 14 years old and just can't hold it like she did when younger, I know the feeling myself.
What town is it in? I want to see how far of a drive it is. Thanks ;)

Adult beverages are allowed, but not to be flaunted or consumed in anyway other than a responsible way. This is a family event but even your host likes a beer now and again. Friday evening, or Saturday evening around the bonfire there is typically a few consumed. :)

If there are any close, I don't have any idea or recommendations as its not something we have ever utilized. The only one I know of is between Coleman and Clare, about 30 minutes from here and I would recommend them as we have Icey groomed there.

Jeff, For the dog care I did a Google search and came up with Dan's Royal Pet Grooming at 3370 N. Clare Ave., Harrison, MI. I assume that's close. On Monday I'll call and see if they do a daytime boarding on that Saturday. If you know anyone to ask fine otherwise I'll check them out. Getting anxious, I think that pig injected with Blue Creeper helped my knee. :D
I can not make it to the pig roast. gspren, if you would like help boarding your dog for that Saturday while you visit , let me know and I'd like to pick up the tab for your pooch . Contact me ...
I believe that the count is 59.

A very generous offer but I assure you that I can easily afford the boarding. I had briefly considered boarding her in PA for the whole trip but we've traveled all over the country with her for 14 years and I just don't want to leave her for more than the day.

Since Gary declined your offer, and if it is still open, I would like to accept it. But I would opt for a "Wife Daycare" facility such as a nearby Factory Store Outlet Mall. A couple of days would be OK, and to expedite payment you could just send a valid credit card. ;D :D :D
Will do ! Is 20 $ "ok" for a few days shopping ? ;D
I am a strong maybe. I would make it a motorcycle trip and it would depend on the weather. The pig roast is 524 miles which makes for a nice ride but not in the rain.

No, but I did ask for a ride with side planks for hauling door prizes. ;D
I will be good as long as there is not a goat as a door prize. Delta does not cotton to goats in the checked baggage.

I had to replace my not even 3 year old batteries in my 1 ton yesterday. Always replace both batteries even if ones bad cause the other will be not far behind. ;)
3 yrs ago I took my '06 Duramax in to the chevy dealer for an oil change and asked them to get everything else ready for a trip to Alaska. Had to replace the air cleaner at Grand Prairie and had an ORIGINAL battery go bad in a state campground not close to anything in Akaska. Limped into Seward to a Napa store and of course ran into Furby. We played tag all over Alaska and the quickest way to find out if he was in town was to go to the local parts store. :D Had a talk with the chevy dealer when we got back.

papadigger, welcome to the forum. You guys will have a great time at the pig roast.
Hello papadigger, and Welcome to the Forestry Forum. I can not think of a better way to make a first post than to RSVP the Pig Roast. Two years is a long time to stay quiet. :)
Now how about an intro thread and telling us a bit about yourself and your log, lumber, wood interest. Also add your location to your profile. ;D

A policeman in the big city stops a man in a car with a goat in the front seat. "What are you doing with that goat?" He exclaimed, "You should take it to the zoo." The following week, the same policeman sees the same man with the goat again in the front seat, with both of them wearing sunglasses. The policeman pulls him over. "I thought you were going to take that goat to the zoo!" The man replied, "I did. We had such a good time we are going to the Forestry Forum pig roast!"
Up until 4 years ago I raised goats and had up to 30 at a time, I still have some equipment like a burning iron used to remove and cauterize the horns, it can also be used to descent a male goat by burning a spot on the top of their head just forward of the horns and centered, should I bring that along? :o

Have any of you see the Direct TV advertisement? Yeah...the one about Hannah and her talking Horse. Well , one of those ads has a goat...a very well fed goat. And it being on tv and such makes me wonder a bit if that movie / tv star goat has any relatives on the East Coast area...that do sawmilling etc.
I think I read about stories of a goat in our group.

I kept getting stuck trying to pack my bags for the Pigroast and it was frustrating. Then I remembered Blue Creeper was good for getting things unstuck and quicker that a goat can hop a fence, I was done!!!!
The train leaves tomorrow and off I go. The door prizes are carefully wrapped, I found room for my bib overalls, and even have a jug of actual Pacific Ocean water and sand from the Oregon Coast gathered yesterday. Over the land I come from the far West - land of Japanese debris washing up on the coast and Computer chips so quick. Going to see the buffaloes and grain fields, farms that stretch as far as the eye can see, home to the salt of the earth type of folks. How wonderful it will be to find common ground among yous midwest kinda people. I just hope to be able to understand the funny way you talk but as long as I can find the outhouse I'm good.
Here I come and thanks for VOTING FOR ME.
Have a safe and joyful trip and we will see you next week. 8)
Its a lot of fun just getting ready for the Pig Roast.
We went out tonight and picked up a few things to donate for door prizes.
I'll keep my eyes open for a few more things before setting sail.

You DanG
right!
Today I went to the Amish general store a few miles away to look for a better regulator for the pig roaster. I asked to be directed to the guy that knew the most about propane stuff. (Almost any Amishman) I was directed to the owner. I told him what I was working on, and a little about the Forestry Forum. He became very interested, and when I left, he donated the new $40 regulator, and two boxes of Timber Savage chainsaw files for door prizes. :)

I hope I get that fire extinguisher just in case we get some more of that smoking hot Mississippi cedar!

The roast looks like it might be the "United Nations" of sawyers.
When I met CustomSawyer Jake a while ago, I was worried that there'd be a lot of those "huh?" moments as we compared tips and tricks. Turns out he wasn't a Georgia boy, but from Colorado and his wife was formerly from the Maritimes. So, no problemo, eh?

That just means we get to be up close and personal and learn more about one another under the big tent while we snack on leftovers like we did several years ago. ;D
We have stopped for the evening in Sikeston, MO. It's 95° and HOT.
Had to look where Sikeston is ... A slight detour puts you in Peoria about lunch time! Should we set a couple extra places? It's only supposed to be 90 here tomorrow. (Note: that's both temperature and humidity ...).
If not, are you going up I-57? After Champaign about 50 miles is my home town of Gilman, if you're hungry about then recommend K&H truck stop, good food reasonable price. (Therefore not sure if they have grits ... :D). Used to have the best hand-dipped milkshakes, don't think they do that any more.

I'm hopiing tor a 10% chance or less for rain for Friday and Saturday so there does not have to BE any tents. That reduces the shore load considerably, and makes it so much nicer in the yard.
As of right now it looks ta be really nice. :) But dat still gives da weather man a couple days ta change his mind. :D :D :D
We could always pile in Magicman's fancy camper. That looks like a might fine and spacious unit indeed. :)
