Limbing those balsam firs and spruce are time consuming. Must be 50 limbs
on a 75' tree. But there is a lot of firewood in them so worth it.
Shoulda bought a bandmill 30 yrs ago though  . I look at alot of those blowdowns and think
could have been some nice dimensional lumber in them. Oh well, too late now. Old and slow.

Forestry and Logging / Re: Felling wedge choices
Last post by B.C.C. Lapp - Today at 04:25:17 PM
Larry I took the Game of Logging courses as well.  I went all the way to level three in fact.  It was worth doing.  I still keep my certification up to date.   Some folks don't believe you know what your doing unless you got some kind of card or paper that says so.

Guys if your wedges pop out of the curf when you pound them stick em in the dirt and get a little grit in the curf with them and they will stick.  If you ever use the one wedge on top of another for higher lift put some dirt on the wedges first. They will start and stick much quicker. Safer to cause you not as likely to catch one in the face when it pops out.

Also if you use two wedges one on the other don't stack em like spoons. Instead put one across the other and an angle. You know like crossed swords. Works much better.  Take two wacks on one, then hit the other two good ones and they are set.

I could think of some solutions. All of them involve corn meal, corn oil, hush puppies and cole slaw. fishin-smiley running-doggy smiley_chef_hat food3

I thought Yellowhammer would be humming "I bream of Jeannie with the light brown hair" during the video.
No luck.
I've spent weeeks at a time with a back-pack style electro-shocker, but those were only good for stream sampling for minnows.
I like Southside's suggestion. It would diversify your Hobby Hardwood YouTube library.  ffcheesy

Ever tried fishing them out with a net? (The rope kind, not to be confused with the Funicello kind). ffcheesy

Ian, I would've liked to have seen that mini-mini-van, loaded up with all of those beer bottles😂

I was reading a article the other day that was to the effect of what a farce plastic recycling is. It said much of the plastic waste that is sorted for recycling in the US,  ends up sent to Asian rim countries where is is never recycled anyways. Kind of an out of sight, out of mind thing.

I don't know how realistic it would be to go back to reusable glass bottles, but we sure generate a lot of plastic bottle trash.

 You got weird "problems", Milton!😁

I was hoping I'd get to hear you pronounce, "bream" in your video. I bet it doesn't sound how it is spelled😁

Last post by bluthum - Today at 03:36:53 PM
The front ports of the muffler on my Echo 590 have a thin metal piece held on with 1 screw the parts list calls the muffler plate. What does is it's function and would I be better off with out it?

Thanks for answers in advance.

You must still have friends with access to things that go BOOM, that will take care of the issue very quickly.  ffcheesy
