Had a decent year. Spent the last couple weeks getting sugar wood cut up and future maple trees transplanted. Been transplanting them for 52 years now. That is how I got my sugarbush. Was 12 when i started transplanting. An old guy down the road from me showed me how to pull up the trees and transplant them.  There will be 32 acres of prime tappable maple trees here shortly. With some luck there is a 4 to 5 acre chunk I want to buy so that will be more trees. It will be a gold mine someday. If some young couple get this place after I am dead and gone they will have a very profitable syrup business. I just hope someone will use and appreciate what I spent a life time building.

I finished the year with about 425 gallon of syrup.  Makes it a very good year, considering that I am down to about 1000 taps.  The forestry people have developed the new high sugar maples but it is difficult to get any seedlings as yet.  I have a sugar bush that propagates itself very well.  Anytime we timber a couple acres, we have many thousands of seedlings come up to make use of the sunshine reaching the forest floor. 

My hat is off to you HiTech, for dedication and patience above and beyond normal.  I do not have what it takes to wait 50 years for todays effort to come into fruition.
