So today was to be the big day to bring my Woodmizer LT35 home.   A friend of mine rode with me to finalize the deal, go through the training and bring the unit home.

Unfortunately it just wasn't to happen today.  After the training session with Tyler at Carolina Woodmizer, we noticed a leak of hydraulic fluid under the hydraulics box.   Tyler immediately worked on diagnosing the issue.  It turned out there was a hole in the screwdriver slot in the plug on the side of the log lift valve.  Hydraulic oil was squirting out when the valve was actuated.

It is an oddball problem for sure.  So odd that the dealer doesn't stock the plug nor does Woodmizer.  So they are replacing the complete set of valves.

I recognize the uniqueness of this situation so I'm NOT bashing Woodmizer or Carolina Woodmizer ASC.  Tyler and Joe did all they knew to do including considering swapping a plug and or a valve unit out of another machine on the lot. They also checked on sourcing parts locally.  In the end they are having a complete set of valves shipped overnight.  I'll take delivery on Friday or Monday.

Tyler and Joe handled the problem professionally and as best they could.  I couldn't ask for more.  I'm just a little disappointed I'm writing this from my recliner instead of making saw dust!

Glad the problem presented itself before I got it home.  So I've got a few more days of waiting before I get to start sawing.  I guess I'll read the manual........ :-\

That's definitely a bummer of a freak failure. I'm glad it was located and going to be fixed.

A number of years back I remodeled a bathroom, about 6 months later I had a leak on the floor behind the wall, so I cut open the drywall and right smack in the middle of the cast shower valve was a pinhole that was spraying water. Now I had hooked that shower up and the wall was open for probably a week or more before I closed it in the first time, there was no leak. Every now and then wierd stuff happens.

That it do, glad they caught it there.
My wife's car is in the shop. I had put a new driveshaft in it to cure a vibration that U joints wouldn't cure, and it still vibrated. I gave up and took it in. They called yesterday, the new driveshaft had a bad U joint. All I could think was stranger things have happened.

Back in high school I put a Holley Intake and Carb on a '72 Ford Torino.  It was leaking water into the crankcase.  I figured I must have crimped a gasket putting it on, so I pulled it and re-installed.....still dumping water into the crankcase.  Turned out to be a pin hole in the casting of the manifold.  Stuff happens.

I have always hated bad new parts and/or spairs.  I can't tell how many times they have driven me nuts. ::) ::) ::) ::)

That will be the best time that you could ever spend.   Stuff will happen and you know that you read about it.  Go back to the Manuel and yup, there is the solution.  :)

GOOD NEWS!  My mill is ready and I'm meeting them half way between here and there tomorrow morning to take delivery.

Every person who runs a business has product or service problems from time to time.  The key is in how those issues are handled-aka customer service.

I wasn't pleased that the mill had an issue but I've been very satisfied that the problem received professional and prompt service from Woodmizer corporate and Woodmizer Carolinas ASC.

Now if the weather will cooperate!

In my experience, the weather is often very unprofessional and rarely considers your needs.  :D :D
