  I have a Sears 5 HP 230 volt motor. It is wired for ccw rotation. I need to Reverse the rotation. I can't find ANY info on the Sears Website ???

  The motor plate shows P1 as one line connection. Then 5-8 as the other connection.

  There are NO numbers on any wire except for P1. There is 3 other wires connected with a crimp-on connector. They are from the motor and the capacitors.

  Maybe I need to cut them loose and switch with the 5-8 connection ???  Anybody familiar with the Sears technical information part of their website ???  I can't locate it  ::)

Hey FD,
Me thinks this be the same owners manual for the 5 hp motor yous guts... I bought my planer back in the late 70's...

Cover page;

First part of the electric hook up;

and the second part;

The way I read "To reverse direction of rotation interhange lines 5 and 8" ....

Hopes it helps,

FDH, If your motor is like the one in the picture it was made by Marathon.  I think they also used Ajax motors.

Iffen you ever need parts try to avoid Sears or have a pocketful of dollars.

Thanks guys. Yup, Pappy nailed it. Problem is, it's 1715 RPM.  ::) ::) ::)

  I just swapped wires about 4 times and it finally took off in the other direction. A little hard on the double throw knife switch, though ???  :D :D :D

  Gotta get a MUCH larger drive pulley. It DOES Plane, just  R E A L    S L O W  ::) ::) :D :D

  I shipped it down in my Container. Parts = NEW down here, mostly.

How'd you do that without zapping the field? I've never been that lucky. I wind up having to take mine to the shop so they can charge me $20 bucks for about 60 seconds of work.  >:(
