And to all who wished me a Happy Birthday, or even just thought about it, Thanks!!

It's a wild time to be Tom Turkey on Thanksgiving. Birthday cake seems so unimportant when there is so much food on the table. I'll have to admit that there wasn't much birthday fare, but hey! who can complain?

I ate turkey of all preparations, both wild and domestic, all kinds of stuffings and mashed potatoes and green bean casserole and mayonnaise/onion/vinegar/cucumber salad and candied carrots and biscuits and collards and corn and pumpkin pie and sweet potato pie and pecan pie and sweet tea and coffee and .....

It sure was good!!

I sat with good friends and held a rambunctious 14 month old in my lap (he thinks I'm Santa) and visited with two other households in the neighborhood. One of them had young people in their late teens, whom were building fires, talking of hunting, and just generally being young folks. It made me feel good that they were so polite and paid attention to the elderly in the yard.

I'm sitting here, now, wishing I had brought a wheelbarrow full of that good food home with me. I could eat till I pop. I was being so good too. :-)

I was just handed a piece of pumpkin roll on paper plate and I'm going to go make a pot of fresh coffee shortly. I guess we might have some of that food in the house after all. Maybe I'll have to go on a reconnoitering mission after a while.

Thanks for the birthday wishes and I wish y'all as good a day as I've experienced.

Isn't this just he greatest, when a little kid who knows nothing of your dark-side, takes a liking to you and wants to sit in your lap all of the time? This is another of my surrogate family. His brother, now 5, met me at the car door with arms outstretched to give me a big hug. Then he offered me a lick from his lollipop. I declined.

Doesn't this just make life worth living?

Just got back From DC.We had Thanksgiving dinner with the step son.First time at his new place.That's why I'm late with the Happy Birthday.I did get on here a couple time,but I get to visit with you guys alot.Don't get to see the step son all that much now. Birthdays are fun to share with family and friends.
