We bought an MP100 moulder/planer to make D logs.  I was very surprised to find out how easily the knives would install.  The little knife clamps are about $18 per copy and seemed over priced until it was time to slide them in and lock them in place.  Someone had designed the head with an indentation for the locking bolt to slide into the knife way.  Well done, Woodmizer!

And you can see the results of my very first test.  A nice 2-sided 8x10 log.  Just so you know, I am the Woodmizer guy for Alaska.  But this is my machine and will be used to make our own house logs.

Looks like it does a fine job, and if I hadn't said it before, welcome to the Forestry Forum!

I see nothing wrong with tooting your own whistle when music comes out.  Thanks for the report.   8)

I've had my eye on the MP100 since they came out, love the finish product.

While I am very jealous of the WM equipment I must compliment you on your log dog.  Absolutely beautiful pup you have there sir!

Someday I would like to be able to say that I left thes 90 acres healthier than when I started watching over them.

Thanks, but it can't be an old saying 'cause I just said it today and it was not repeated from somewhere else.  It just came out that way.   ;D

Well, every old saying has to start out as a new one ;)

The MP100 will be known as the one with the new old saying with a twist by one of the younger older folks. Hope this makes new log cabins milled from the not so old logs look like old log cabins with a fresh coat of shingle oil to keep it looking new or something like that :)

I would like to see that in motion. Does that run on a LT 10 or 15 track?

Can you mill a tongue and groove in the log with it?

prittgers

Couple notes on the MP100:  It will do t&G.  And it will do a lap profile for log siding, too.  They are currently only available in electric 7-1/2 hp, single and 3 phase.

Glad you like my log dog. She is my buddy and gets between our family and some obnoxious black bears that have been hanging around.  Even went so far as to 'escort' my niece into the house the other day because of one.
