Difference in 372XP and 372XPW

Just wondering what the difference is in a Husky 372XP and a 372XPW.  I have an XP and my brother has the XPW.  I looked it up on the Husky website and it said the XPW has a full wrap handle but my brothers does not.  I also know there is a slight displacement and power difference.   

Are these the only differences in the saws??  Anyone ever run an XPW?

74.66cc v/s 70.7cc  , most of the east coast guys take the full wrap handles off in favor of half wrap  and put  the smaller stock dawgs instead of the big dawgs  that come on the 372xpw west coast model.
I have one and Ian Haywood has one. We both really like our 74.66cc versions  ;D

When they cost the same why not get the 4cc's extra for free, JMO  8).

The only difference is the full wrap handle. Our fallers are required to run it with a bar longer than 24". That way, they are not required to stand in the tree's path when finishing the cut.

You are basically right - it was like that for a long time, but the 75cc XPWs that turned up a year or two ago changed the picture a bit - a real mess, really...... :

Here is a woods ported 75cc version making some cuts in 8"x8" poplar for testing chain and carb settings before a gtg.
I was really impressed with the unreal torque in the big wood too after running Ian's 375 and seeing that mine just wasn't a fluke at how much power these saws had after being tweaked.

I "guess" that they are both EHP ones - if memory serves, the 75cc 372xp beats both the 71cc one and thee 7900, when modded by him...... 8) 8)

Sorry to break the news to  you  Sawtroll on mine, your wrong. 
Mine is ported by Dan Henry PP375 and Ian's is a EHP375 and I will leave it at that.   ;)

This comes from a guy that wanted a bigger saw then his stihl 021 that he has owned 12 years so  he could rip logs with a 28" bar. How in the world did you end up with a 2050  for saw of choice for a 28" ;).

I would put a wager my antique 25-29 year old wore out Partner 5000's 49cc's could give your 2050 all it could handle in hardwood. Out of 10 or so of them I will set 3 in front of you and let you point out the one I run against the 2050. 1 is completely stock, 1 is a working saw with woods port and original carb, 1 is a little on the wild side but still on 93 octane gas. After that I will run all of the others just to compare the difference in chains from .325 5/32, .325 3/16 and 3/8.   :P  This is all in jest cantcutter too.  ;D

Well I sold the 21 and haven't found a reasonable deal on a big saw so I picked up the 2050 turbo for trimming logs and cutting slab. For a cheap saw that sucker will throw some wood chips. :D  My 2050 will go against all three in a row....

Hey cantcutter, just noticed your link on portable mill. I am going to send it to my Dad and see what he thinks  ( have land inside you 80 mile radius).
Been dropping poplars and having them cut up into 1" lumber for the last month. Then have to haul them to the guy with the mill. He gives us a choice on payment (he gets half the lumber or pay per lbf for us to keep all of it).

I really dont want a Jred 2050 even if it was free  ;D.  But I would go for a free hour of labor wages sometime 8).

You should try and make it to one of the chainsaw gtg's we have. I already had the spring one, there should be one the south of Columbus this fall or winter at Bill's place ( I hope).

Here is a very small taste of the Spring 08 Ohio GTG (Brad put 07 on pics by mistake), there was to much going on for picture taking, but Ole Brad somehow manged to click a few and make a short video.
It turns out that this needed to be a 2 day event (we were only half way done when we were all wore out from the small wood racing) and still had big wood left over.

Thanks to all that showed up and it was nice to make new friends and meet the familiar faces and friends again.
The turn out was good and the racing is getting tougher in Ohio IMO.
All saws were gas saws run with each persons own mix of gas. Saws were from Stock-Wild gas saws cutting 8x8 and 10x10 for times.
We never got to the big wood one cut races due to everyone being wore out after all the small wood racing. However there was alot of big cookies cut for fun. Derek provided wood big enough that wkpoor Bill stated his 34" bar couldn't reach through. Thanks to Derek and his Dad for setting up all the wood for us. Also Thank You for providing us a very scenic place to hold this gtg.

We were racing for fun 2 cuts in 4" width hot start over wood.

There was to be NO DQ's due to this is for fun and learning experience for all.
So you will see some guys with 2 times and I used their fastest time of the two for their place. If a guy cut out and DQ'ed we would give them a 2nd try and let them cut again for a timed cut and used that time for their place.

I agree the P5000 is a waaay better quality saw than the 2050 (pro saw vs "homeowner/consumer").....


It also looks like your 375xp is pretty hot - but it may have something to do with the operator as well ??????

Oh I am sure it is a better saw....mine is a piece of garbage that I payed $75.00 for..... I have to choke it to shut it off and I have to stand on the pull starter to get it to engage with the flywheel.

But better does not mean faster ;D
