Just thought  would let some of you guys know that sometime between April-June there will be a chainsaw gtg in N. Central Ohio at either my place or a friends place. We will be cutting poplar cants for timed cuts in different classes of saws.  Other wood types in rounds will be on hand to test and run saws on too.
Just letting you guys know ahead of time, so some of you that was asking what a gtg was can get some sharp chains ready and get the saws readied.

We would run a few classes take a break for lunch and run some more classes. Its all for just for fun and a little bragging till the next gtg's.

It also gives people a chance to run saws that they have never ran before and see if they like them before going out and purchasing.

Cut4fun

Tentative GAS classes. This is to help out the racer guys with practice gas saws, since i would like this to be a more racer orientated gtg.
Alky classes would be the norm, 3 cube- open stock appearing and piped, if any show up to put on a show for the guys.

Usual classes are
0-50
0-60
0-80
0-100
100+, piped same way, BUT being racer orientated and would like the faster gas practice saws to show up, (which puts my 56.5cc at a disadvantage in the 0-65cc class, so NO I am not doing this in my favor, if anyone was wanting to cry foul here .

But to get the new 346's and 5100's in too. Lets try these classes maybe. Can be changed to fit saws later, since this is just for fun and I really dont give a rip, just want to cut some cookies  .

0-51
0-65
0-81
0-100
100+
and piped gas same way.
Alky 3, 4, 5, 6, open, stock appearing, piped.

We are trying to get some 25"-30" wood to make cuts on too, besides the 8x8's and 10x10's for racing on.

I will put out feelers for APRIL 19th as of now.

To see how that fits into everyones schedule. I got people from WV,PA,IN,KY,MI,OH,NY,  etc,  PMing me, so it might get tough to  fit everyones schedule.

Tom

What is a gtg?  I can't even pronounce it.  :-\

Furby

Internet slang for get together.

beenthere

So get-to-gether   :)....  I was coming up with gathering.... ::) ::)

like mtg is short for meeting...

But gtg for get-to-gether works for me too.... ;D ;D

gtg = got ta go  wasn't cutting it.  ;D

It may be that my sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others

Furby

GTG is commonly use for good to go, thus confusing lots of folks that know that when used for get together.
Either way it is considered by many to be a form of slang.

The problem I have with shortcut languages and buzz words is that it cuts so many people out of a community.

Stock appearing.   :D   Yeah, I've got one of those.

So do I and about 99% of the people I know that run saws, so bring it and see how she runs.
So which class is you stock appearing run? What fuel does it drink, 100,110,120,130, cocktail? What is the saw?

johncinquo

046.  Its stock, of course.    Just a tuned woods saw is all I need.

Sounds like you would be running in the gas woods saw classes with the rest of us then. Trust me you dont want to run that saw in stock appearing.  :D :) :o

I showed up to a enduro race on a dirt half mile oval track. and the only motor i had that was stock was out of a 190,00 thousand mile snow plow pick-up so i put that in. (thinking that everyone else had the same) can you say yyyyeaaaaaahhh oookkkkaayyy!!!!!!!!  man i got educated i went to the tech guy why is that thing sound like my limited late model engine i have 12 grand in he said it says stock appearing not stock. like i said i got educated.

I showed up with a stock appering 454 big block chevy in it. then the other guys complained and whined like babies  i told them it's stock appearing right? on lap 42 i was ahead of second place by 18 laps then the clutch linkage fell off so when i stopped for the red light. I couldn't get moving again, I could start it but it wouldn't start in gear too much mud on the track. I also was the only one there with 4 brand new snow tires. They got educated.

TreeCo just deleted the GTG thread at ASz.
So all them guys with any smarts will soon be at other sites looking for gtg info. Thank you Treeco for sending the cream of the crop to other sites!

((((((((((((((((((((((A guy asked why Kevin wasn't posting the GTG info. I replied simply, "Kevin won't be posting here any more." Period. Nothing else. I sent the guy PM to contact you over at the "race place" and you could fill him in on the details. Then sos and so, called and told me the thread was deleted. I posted a thread asking where it went. Of course I knew. It disappeared immediately as well. I then PMd all the admins and TreeCo said he deleted it but it might be back later. I asked why and he just said it was his gut feeling he was doing the right thing. I asked since when is a GTG the wrong thing to do? Just acting ignorant. Of course I send my replies to all the other admins. I haven't heard back.))))))))))))))))))))))))

Glad Treeco feels it is in his best interest to keep the ASz guys in the shadows.

Cut4fun,
Location as of right now, Whispering Pines Tree Farm.

Date April 19th, weather permitting.

Racing in 8x8 and 10x10.

Food slab ribs and brats.

Will be plenty of 20" inch wood around that needs to disappear and hopefully find something closer to the 26"-30" range for a big bar 1 cut race for fun.

Twinturboram,
Anyone interested in coming can PM me for address and info, Mapquest is pretty accurate with the location so that would be what Id use. The only issue that there might be is mud......kinda hit and miss around here in April, can get pretty messy sometimes.

Cut4fun

Twinturboram can be contacted at www.racesaws.com about directions for the gtg.

Cut4fun

We are going to add a TOP HANDLE class at the gtg for 2 cut over wood in 8x8. Anything goes, piped, muffler, woods ported, all out race, stock, running on gas or alky if you so desire. It is going to be called the Bumble Bee class.
I know of a modded piped mini mac that is going to be real happy in the class.

If anyone from here is going, pm me and I will give you the address to mapquest.

Hey Kevin, It looks like Ian and myself might be making the trip. Derek sent me the addy this weekend.
Will be good to see you guys again and hope the trip is safe.
Make sure you and Ian has them chains ready. This is going to be more of a race orientated gtg 8x8 and 10x10.  Big wood cut racing too.  8)

Cut4fun

The 7 slab ribs are grilling with mild and hot brats on the side. Got 20+" pine rounds , 25+" oak, 30"-36" cottonwood to cut in too.
Small wood racing will be in the 8x8 and 10x10 poplar.
The west coast one cut racing will be in the bigger rounds above.
See you all there tomorrow and drive safe.

Cut4fun

There will be a stock Solo 681 and 651 to demo at the GTg, plus there will be a muffler modded Solo 681 on hand.
The 681 is stronger then the 7900 and the 651 is on par with the 5100S, for  you people wondering what they compare to. Later time to play.  8)

Here is a very small taste of the Spring 08 Ohio GTG (Brad put 07 on pics by mistake), there was to much going on for picture taking, but Ole Brad somehow manged to click a few and make a short video.
It turns out that this needed to be a 2 day event (we were only half way done when we were all wore out from the small wood racing) and still had big wood left over.

I dont know why, but the picture link was removed so you guys cant view them for some reason.
It was just a link to blsnellings pics  ::).

Thanks to all that showed up and it was nice to make new friends and meet the familiar faces and friends again.
The turn out was good and the racing is getting tougher in Ohio IMO.
All saws were gas saws run with each persons own mix of gas. Saws were from Stock-Wild gas saws cutting 8x8 and 10x10 for times.
We never got to the big wood one cut races due to everyone being wore out after all the small wood racing. However there was alot of big cookies cut for fun. Derek provided wood big enough that wkpoor Bill stated his 34" bar couldn't reach through. Thanks to Derek and his Dad for setting up all the wood for us. Also Thank You for providing us a very scenic place to hold this gtg.

We were racing for fun 2 cuts in 4" width hot start over wood.

There was to be NO DQ's due to this is for fun and learning experience for all.
So you will see some guys with 2 times and I used their fastest time of the two for their place. If a guy cut out and DQ'ed we would give them a 2nd try and let them cut again for a timed cut and used that time for their place.
