I've been told they have a horrible bite but I have never been bitten by one? I thought they never bit, I've had some on me for lengths before(unknowingly) never been bit. Have you ever been bit by one? They are pretty big and their larvae literally eat wood so I'm sure they got strong bites!

They sort of remind me of the worms from the old movie tremor. Pretty ugly

They can, but I wouldn't worry about it happening or getting ill if one did. You'll definitely feel it if they latch on. The bite will blister. ;D

I tried using the larva for bait ,no takers then we tried the beetle itself nope nothing.
Then we tried a grasshopper and bang nice speck,we thought the beetles would work because of the amount of dead pine all around the little lake.
Often wrong never indoubt

When I was around them, they seem more interested in a piece of pine than me. I guess I am the wrong type of food.  ;)

Cfarm, if you’re covered in pine sap and wood chips they won’t know the difference lol . For me anyway. They always land on me and they have very sticky legs so they’ll land wherever they want

When I first read the title I thought to myself, this must be about a white mill operator speckled with hydraulic oil, sawing pine logs, that must have had rabies. Did anyone else have this vision or should I have just continued on and kept my demented  thoughts to myself?  :D

terrifictimbersllc

I did, but magicman looks like he tends to bite other things. :D

Yes and I thought it brought Peter Drouin to mind right away🤷‍♂️😁 Magic, I've always called those grubs timber shrimp, but I've never been man enough to bite into one. How was it?😁
