Please set up a video camera while you use the saw.
It will be amazing to watch!

I think it would be a long long process with a two man saw.  It might take us a year in 15 minute increments.

You could do an exploratory plunge cut with a chainsaw with a 28" bar. Could even take a core sample that way.

Two man crosscut saw sounds interesting- except for the two people running it.

Certainly is an interesting burl. I'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

Whichever saw you use, you can examine the chips (sawdust) as you cut, and it will tell whether you have sound wood or rot inside.
Under bark there's boards and beams, somewhere in between.
Cuttin' while its green, through a steady sawdust stream.
I'm chasing the sawdust dream.

Ha! As a crosscut saw collector, good luck on finding a saw that long. I never could.

Do you think braising two tigether is better than welding?

Brazing is a form of welding.
Personally I would be inclined to TIG weld two blades together and then grind the weld flush although a brake or MiG weld would also work just fine. The only process that probably wouldn't work well is stick (SMAW).

If you do this please post video as I would like to see what is in it and how well the hand saw works.
Two LT70s, Nyle L200 kiln, 4 head Pinheiro planer, 30" double surface Cantek planer, Lucas dedicated slabber, Slabmizer, and enough rolling stock and chainsaws to keep it all running.
