My new mcculloch runs great as I fixed the leaking fuel tank by removing the bad gasket and replacing it. . The gas cap on top leaks when I tilt the chainsaw. I tightened it as much as I can. What can I do to fix it. Any ideas. Thanks in advance.  Dave

Sounds like a defective cap Dave, check to see if it's the vent that's leaking or the cap itself.

Kevin, I'll look at the gas cap carefully. It seemed to be leaking I guess somewhere where the gasket makes contact. I'll let you know what I find. Thank you for your help.  Dave

I can't see anything wrong with the gas cap. There's no cracks in it and it was brand new to begin with. I really don't know what to look for but it leaks when the chainsaw is tilted at an angle.  Dave

The cap on that gas tank should have a rubberized cork gasket in it.  This gasket may have become hard and cracked or it may be missing.  I'd try replacing it with an O-ring and see if that stops the leak.
I eat a high-fiber diet.  Lots of sawdust!
