I have an opportunity to buy some pine logs but neither I nor the owner have a clue what the current value is. None of the local mills are buying. Any ideas?

$275/MBF delivered for pine saw timber around here. Given that nobody is buying I would say yours are that or less in value.

Depends on quality and length, anywhere from 150-300. 300per mbdft is slamming nice 16'+ pine.

I asked a young feller I know that works around here and he told me if they can sell it they're getting $10/ton. No wonder no one is messing with it. I haven't seen the logs yet but the owner told me he has bucked them 9'6". That's a little disappointing. I can always use construction lumber but would like to be able to have longer stuff on hand.

I guess it depends on quality, 10 bucks a ton isnt bad. Your markets diff down there ? 9'6" is beyond odd, HW sawlogs but never for softwood. I've got 30mbdft of it right now I'm trying to find a home, only the best 13'-16' stuff goes in containers right now.

The guy selling them isn't a logger. He had no idea that cutting them was a bad idea.

I get people all the time asking me about "trees". Had a guy off the boat want me to go to to Ravina NY to look at some yard trees they had dropped, I went down a couple days later, he got ambitious and blocked up 6x beautiful walnut into firewood lengths.... it would have made us all sick.
