Is there any advantage or disadvantage to using wood or foam closure strips?  My panel length will be just shy of 8'.  I was thinking four strips - the top and bottom using foam for sealing and the middle two wood for rigidity.

Are you talking about the supports under the glazing, using foam at top and bottom? And the supports in the middle of the glazing just being wood?  Think the company that sells the twinwall poly, makes a channel for between the glazing, and the top and bottom.  The cells need to be closed off or they collect dust, which will mess up your light transmission.

you must be talking about corrugated panels.  I think wood will hold up better.  heat and humidity.
