The copper power strip for the hydraulics has a brass block to make connection from the head.
After almost 6 years I had to replace the brass block today. It was adjusted as much as it could be and arcing really bad.
Has anyone else had to do this?
What was the life of your brass block?
Installed the new block and cleaned the copper strip and now its just like new.
Here is the old brass against the new brass. You can see the difference in size.

Yes a few times. It sounds like you did fine with that many years. I carry a spare
I seem to replace those every couple of years, so I would guess 1000-1200 hours give or take. They usually wear down until the eye on the end of the cable is almost touching the strip.

Well I made it to 2001 hours on 1.....so I guess I did do good.
On the second one, as mentioned the power cable bolt head started to make contact, I made one from an alloy bronze, brass wearplate material, costly stuff but runs for just a pile of cycles on mold slides, pretty sure this one will never wear out. The best part about replacing them is getting down in the saw dust,
I replaced mine last year.
The mill had 487 hours on it when I got it and when I changed it, the mill had almost 2,400 hours on it, so I guess a lot of the wear depends on how it is used!
2490 hours on mine and I should have replaced it about 300 hours ago. The washer under the bolt was just starting to bite into the copper strip. I filed down the washer to get me by until I the replacement arrived.
Good post and info. Seems like if I have a issue with my WM, I look on the Forum before I look in manuals or call WM. Nothing beats experience.
