The last fish of the day on a day that wasn't great for catching, but we caught a few.  Dad got a muskie on, but it got off.  It was a good day spent with my parents.  Haven't been in a boat with both of them for over 20 years.  The fish was 20" long and should have been about 5 lbs.  Took some pics and put it back.

So, I noticed two things.

1.  That's a nice bass, congratulations.

2.  Forceps?  Hanging around your neck? Naw!!!  When you catch a great big ol sowbelly, hang a pair of vice grips around your neck and say they weren't big enough.

If it won't roll, its not a log; it's still a tree.  Sawmills cut logs, not trees.

But I've seen someone accidentally make it inside out. Kinda hard to do, but funny as all get out when discovered  ;D

Well go for the Beastie Boys - Forestry Forum version and hang a Woodmizer medallion on the chain too.  :D .

Are we talking upright bass or electric bass?  Four string? Five string? Six string? It's possible that a bass could be too big to play comfortably, so why all the fuss about a large musical instrument?

That's "Brass Monkey" (for those that may not know ;)) "you funky monkey"!

At least that's how I remember it, it WAS almost 35yrs ago.

Besides, I don't remember for sure, but I don't think that there were any brass instruments in that song. BUT they did (to the best of my recollection) have some jammin 6 string on that album "License To Ill".

I have both.  A German made upright bass well over 100 years old and a 1973 Fender Jazz bass  :).

My biggest bass was a G&L L2500 5-string or some such.  Great big slab of southern ash.  Beautiful to behold.  Didn't play too bad either.  Oh wait, I used to have uprights too!

Ended my "career" in music with a double bag with two matching Steinberger headless copies 5-strings.  That was fun.  Then you hook up that cheap, long out-of-production DOD bass envelope filter.....but set it so the filter never opens up.  Now you've got gigantic drum machine bass sound out of your bass guitar.  Dub style!  Used to move some air with that setup.
