Guys:
Maybe one of you can help me with this issue.
When I copy a story address and try to insert it into an email or other location, the link does not come through as an active link.
Like this:
Boxed heart beams or not? (forestryforum.com)

Here in this post, this is an active link, but in an email it is not.

I have to use this.

Do any of you know how to get this to display and work in an email?

email clients usually have a button to insert a link.  Just like the link insert button above.  I copy the url and paste it into the dialog box for both the text and url.

When you use the Insert Link function the forum adds extra code to the link to make it display as a name, with the actual link hidden.

<a href="https://forestryforum.com/board/index.php?topic=4247.msg57369#msg57369"
 class="bbc_link" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Boxed heart beams or not?
(forestryforum.com)</a>

Modern email clients should have a similar option, and as long as the receiver is also using a modern client the link will display correctly. Otherwise (old school text email) it will display as above, and they will have to dig the actual URL out of the code.

I did a search earlier today and saw a video on how to insert the hyper link. The video showed aol mail and it had a function bar showing the hyper link icon to make the text a hyper link. My aol email doesn't have that text edit function bar. Most likely I'd have to upgrade my service to get that function bar. Which most likely will cost me something.
I searched for a setting that would turn on the function bar but I couldn't find it.
I'm not sure where it is or how to turn it on.
Thanks for all your advice.

Thunderbird or Outlook should be able to sync with AOL mail, it does with Gmail.  Then you'll have all the tools you need.

Here's a more detailed explanation, second link is from AOL.

Access AOL in Thunderbird.

AOL mail in 3rd party client   and also in this link is a dropdown ' Instructions for common email apps'
