Just finished up all my holiday gifts. The first is a tray for one of my granddaughters. I made her a walnut tray featuring her initials to catch all the little stuff.

First I cut the tray

And then I thought I would give it some contrast and re sawed some spalted maple to 3/16" to cut the inserts.

For the young granddaughter I made a Car to hold her Chap-stick that she loves to use.

I made my wife a new rolling pin and stand last week.

Picked up some LED balls and made a holiday fixture from walnut to hang on my wife's plant hooks. What a nightmare to get all the wiring in with electronics built into the 2 plugs on each ball.

Turned my first bowl from a chunk of cherry that has been laying in my shop for years. It is about 9 1/2" diameter.

Made another little cherry container with a walnut top.

And a couple of tops for the grandsons.

My holiday gifts are complete with time to spare.   8)

Thanks. I get creative when the egg nog starts flowing.  We found those light balls at Costco but they only came with a nylon fishing line to hang them and I had some walnut and stainless pipe to make it look a little  more like a holiday decoration.

Very creative and you slid in under the whistle.  Safe!!   :)
I like to wait untill the last minute to get started. Before I met my wife I would do all my shoping on Christmas eve. Drives her crazy because she starts buying and making gifts in August. :)

Wow.. what wonderful gifts.. the grandkids will love them!  The Mrs.. well w/ that small bat you gave her.. whatever she says.  Some years our family had gift rules like.. you have to make it.. gifts ranged from cookies to outfits.. I think I made a Rudolph magazine/remote holder.. my sister liked it.  You're family will be smiling.

Thanks everyone.  Making wood gifts always helps me get into the Christmas spirit. Plus once the grandkids blow the money they also get, they still have something left that makes them think of us.
