Christmas too commercial?  I've been hearing that ever since I was a kid, and it hasn't changed any.

I've always been interested in how things were done in our past.  Here's a few links you may enjoy:

Ron reminds me of this.

Each year at the 19th Century King's Landing Historical Settlement, they celebrate the Victorian Christmas from November 12 to December 23 at the King's Head Inn. It has become a tradition for thousands of celebrants. The Inn is decorated with evergreen boughs, garlands and pomander balls with all the trimmings. Enjoy a 5 course meal by candle-light, with main course choices of:

    * Roast Turkey
    * Roast Goose
    * Prime Rib Roast of Beef with Yorkshire Pudding

I was there 2 years ago with family and the place was packed. They have fireplaces lit, cidar, sing alongs carolling and a lovely meal. I didn't care much for the oyster dressing though, was terrible salty. You can have regular stuffing.
