Germans tend to overengineer everything. Their stuff is a marvel to behold, and great while it works, but costs dearly when it goes in the shop. I'd be interested in seeing what the Russians use. Not sure what they're doing anymore, but their stuff used to be clunky, but simple and built like a tank; like redneck engineering with some money behind it.

30 years ago I was told that the Russians put road transmissions in their articulated fwd tractor and pull trailers on the road with them. Not too many super highways over yonder.   ;D

Now that is living the dream! A tractor dealer said that in Europe farm tractors are common on rural roads. If the tractor runs under 20 mph there were no regulations, well maybe lights etc. If it runs above 20 mph it fell under much more regulations like the type of brakes and what not......

I've seen a lot of farm tractors on YouTube being used to haul crops on the road in UK/Europe. The tractors do 50kph, or about 31 mph, they have brakes on the towed vehicle,  and are running on roads that wouldn't allow a truck to go any faster anyway.

Common to see large farm tractors on the roads here, even the main State Highway. Similar rules, with tractors that can do over ~20mph needing to be registered / lights etc.  It's silage season here now, so you see the contractors moving machinery around different farms all the time, and casually driving down the main street in town.  :D

Some maize, but mostly grass. Usually made into large round bales and plastic wrapped to cook up until winter when it's needed. Usually do hay after Christmas when the weather is better (sometimes  :D )

Fendts can be quite quick, running empty. Probaby find a few fendt forest tractor conversions etc

What is the world's fastest tractor?
In 1934 it was the Allis Chalmers Model U. The record setting speed of 65.45 miles per hour was set by Ab Jenkins, a speed record that went unchallenged for 81 years. 34 of these tractors were built with a special transmission for speed. Allis Chalmers is known as the first company to put tires on it's farm tractors. To be another first in racing, Allis Chalmers partnered with Firestone tire and Pennzoil to showcase what all three could do.

The only reason the AC held the record is because nobody has ever been brave enough to put a Minneapoli-Moline in any gear higher than second.  :D
