White cedar prices

Local lad with a mill is paying me $450 per 1000 bf for sound white cedar that is at least 9.5 inches s.e.d.  No trucking expenses - he picks it up on my landing.

Just wondering.  How does that compare with prices in New England, Quebec, and the Maritimes?

Considering I don't know of any mills around here in the north east buying cedar I'd say that's not too bad!

Here is a link to the actual price paid by mills for northern white cedar in the eastern township, Québec.

It's in french but dollard signs are bilingual  :)

I get $3.00 a lin ft for 8" 10' cabin logs.$4.00 for 12'.$240.00 a cord for 8' cabin logs. $180.00 a cord for 10' post.$140.00 for 8' post.Picked up on my job i load the truck.Straight no rot.Hand cut.

I buy cedar posts woods run 100" 4" to 7" tops delivered to the vineyard in at least 10 cord loads for 135.00 per cord.  The last couple loads originated around Detour.

Are these prices that individual specialty shops are buying the raw timber for? Wow!

I find northern white cedar undervalued, your doing very good for those prices. The most I've seen it for is about $180 a cord for 10" min top. There are lots of cedar mills around this region. Considering white cedar grows to about 36" dbh in this region and grows very slow.
