hey guys I was wondering if anyone could tell me what a bow bar is used for. Seems awfull dangerous is there any real need for it.
It's better to have it and not need it. Then to need it and not have it.

Welcome, Erick. :)  There have been several threads on this forum concerning bows. I'm sure you'll run across them as you enjoy some of the past discussions.

The bow bar is used for bucking logs. You can make quick work of firewood cutting with one if the trees are already down. They aren't good for felling unless the trees are really small.

The bow is a wicked looking thing, to be sure, but no more dangerous than any other chainsaw when used properly. You absolutely MUST utilize the "claw" that is located at the lower curve of the bow. Without that, it is a killer. With it, its as gentle as a kitten.
