Swing Mill hunting
« on: June 07, 2020, 10:40:39 PM »
Hi all, I sold my Lucas 8-27 to replace an engine in my
Money making truck.  Now Iím selling that truck and going to buy a new to me mill.    Has anyone used the new 10-30 Lucas?    Is it worth the extra weight if your not cutting 10Ē lumber all the time?

What about the DL swing blade?
Thanks for the input.
GRAB life by the Belly fat and give it a twist!!!!!

Went from 5 employees to one, sorry to see a couple of them go.  Simplify life... building a totally solar run home, windmill pumps my water, and logs keep me warm.

Jack, I'm not personally familiar with the D&L, but one of the things that swayed me towards a Peterson WPF was the fact that I could double cut wider than 10" w/o having to turn the mill around on the track.

From what I've heard, they all are good, solid mills.
Peterson 10" WPF with 65' of track
Smith - Gallagher dedicated slabber
Tom's 3638D Baker band mill
and a mix of log handling heavy equipment.

I am doing a little research myself on the Peterson, Turbosaw and D&L as well. They all seem to have great features. I like the Lucas mill, but not interested in the rotation to double cut.

If you own a swing blade mill, what do you miss about the bandsaw mill?
